Jessica Pegula talks about Coco Gauff

When playing tennis together, the fact that Gauff and Jessica were born a decade apart actually doesn’t matter, but being around a young player has a different effect on the veteran tennis player. Being a billionaire’s daughter herself, she has never gone through some things that have happened with her tennis partner. Pegula commends her 18-year-old partner for always being happy most or all of the time. She enjoys her partner’s youth and agility, which keeps her going in a more vivacious manner.

She said, “I would say she has, like, really good energy. You know, like a lot of first-pumping, jumping around. Her athleticism and the youthfulness about her. She’s very giggly. She laughs a lot. She’s always kind of messing around.” The 28-year-old claims that she is pretty relaxed when playing singles, but after observing the 18-year-old’s enthusiasm, she has gained a lot of insight into how to be more animated when playing singles.

However, she has picked up a lot of lessons from her younger Doubles partner that have improved both her as a tennis player and as a person. The tennis star jokingly concluded by saying that, “So, yeah, I don’t know. She keeps me young.”

The Duo is yet to claim their first victory in the WTA Finals competition despite winning the San Diego Open and making it all the way to the quarterfinals of the Guadalajara Open. However, they have already dropped two games at the group state level. And are prepared to compete in the upcoming encounter against the Czech doubles team.
