The two sisters grew under the aegis of their father, Richard Williams. He trained them himself and then worked with their first coach, Rick Macci, to develop their game.

In a recent interview, Macci detailed why he thinks Venus could have performed better than her sister. He said, “When people ask me about Venus, they are really surprised because I to this day, still believe, Venus could have been a better player.” He elaborated on the reason behind it and said, “This is what people don’t understand. She had gifts from above that Serena didn’t.”

How long will we see the elder sister on the court?

According to Macci, Venus Williams will repeat exactly what her sister, Serena Williams, did and will retire at the US Open in 2023. However, there has not been any confirmation from the player herself yet. We got to see the Williams sisters duo playing the doubles match one last at this year’s US Open.

The duo has won 14 Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold together in the doubles category. Who knows, we might get to see them again competing in the doubles category.
