The former coach of Naomi Osaka recently shared his views on Simona Halep and her doping controversy during an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports. Halep has been given an interim suspension by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after testing positive for a banned substance during this year’s US Open.

During his interview, he spoke about the Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, who tested positive for Roxadustat, a substance that has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Halep is prohibited from participating in any WTA competitions and could face a lengthy suspension. He said, “I think personally um her biggest problem right now is of course the doping right… There’s zero doubt that that wasn’t on purpose or she never wanted to do that so probably something yeah happened or or like she maybe didn’t check her drink..”

Fissette further added, “I’m really certain she’s an honest player, and she’s definitely not a cheater. She has never cheated in matches or did something, so yeah, I just want to wish her like of course a lot of strength, mental strength.”

The Romanian never gave up on finding the issue, and recently her efforts proved to be fruitful. Halep could determine the medicine as the reason behind the doping scandal. She has requested an urgent hearing from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) to address the problem. The two-time Grand Slam winner’s tennis season came to an end with her loss in the first round of the US Open.

Before the doping controversy became public, Halep had planned to take a hiatus from competing. She underwent a nose surgery to aid with her breathing problems.
