Naomi Osaka recently bagged her fourth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2021. The Japanese star played some exceptional tennis and was able to outplay even veterans like Serena Williams. Surprisingly, Osaka hadn’t played a single match after her US Open 2020 triumph but won the Major in Melbourne despite returning to the court after five months.

Naomi Osaka really worked hard at the Australian Open 2021. In a recent interview, her grandfather Tetsuo Osaka revealed that she’d predicted that she would go on to win the Australian Open title on January 1, 2021, itself. The 76-year-old said that Osaka had told the same to her mother on a phone call on the first day of the new year.

“When you’ve looked at her for over 10 years, you come to know when she’s not in form and when she’s speaking with confidence,” said Osaka’s grandfather.

Naomi’s grandfather also disclosed that she’d expressed a desire to win the Olympic Gold medal on the phone call as well. He believes that her granddaughter is doing great and will be able to play like this at least for the next ten years.

“It’s like mountain climbing. She’s like an alpinist going after higher mountains, and I think she’ll be able to keep going for about 10 years,” added Tetsuo.

“I’d like her to open a tennis school for children in Nemuro. To do that, the coronavirus has to end first,” concluded the grandfather.
