Emojis have come a long way and across social media platforms, they offer users efficient ways to express their opinions. 42-year-old Venus Williams, who is still on the verge of making her tennis comeback after an injury-enforced layoff, seems to have grown a fondness for them. Lately, Venus’ social media posts have had something in common. More often than not, it’s the emojis that she’s been using.

The seven-time singles Grand Slam winner, in a recent tweet, expressed how she’s hooked to using a particular emoji. The post caught the attention of her followers, and some hilarious reactions followed.

Venus Williams probably has a thing for trolls

In the tweet, Venus wrote about how she can’t stop using the troll emoji on the platform. The American tennis legend wrote, “Can’t stop using this emoji”. She followed this statement up with four troll emojis and wrote, “smh”.

Williams’ tweet didn’t go unnoticed, and several Instagram users responded to it. Unsurprisingly, there were some bone-tickling reactions.

For instance, @DKTNNS wrote, “I knew you’d come around! (circa 2017)”.

User @VenusGauff wrote, “Omg is she saying she’s trolling us??” Also, the user ended the post with, “I can’t”. Clearly, Venus’ fan more or less got some understanding into her idol’s newfound love for emojis.

Another user, @Dezzyfmitch, just couldn’t stop laughing.

@Tonywjohnson1 also responded to Venus’ tweet, writing, “It’s a troll” and a troll emoji followed.

Surprisingly, user @jaidenofficial was among those who didn’t get what the emoji meant. Bewildered, he asked, “Wtf is that?”

However, another user, @Damuc28, provided him with the meaning, and he replied, “Love it!”

@KatrinazWarrior also left a funny one-word comment in response to Venus’ tweet, writing, “Mother”.

What’s going on with Venus in terms of her recovery?

All in all, 2023 got off to the worst possible start for Venus Williams after a hamstring injury she sustained in Auckland.

Even now, she still hasn’t fully recovered from the injury. However, she did make the prediction that she would be back playing competitive tennis during the clay court season. Tennis fans can only hope that Venus, who is longevity personified, makes a swift return.

For now, Venus is using her recovery time to great effect, as she is frequently engaging with fans on social media. Sure, she may have been late to the social media game after dedicating the majority of her life to tennis. However, her emojis suggests that she is adapting to it.
