Yesterday, in a shocking turn of events, former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe was assassinated while campaigning for an upcoming election. The longest-serving PM in the country’s history succumbed to gunshot wounds. Following this shocking news, the entire world expressed grief over this grave event. Additionally, many famous personalities took to social media to express their grief on the passing away of Shinzo Abe. Amongst them were the likes of Barack Obama, Naomi Osaka, and Martina Navratilova.

The three took to Twitter to express their sorrow in this dark hour. Former United States President Barack Obama, said, “I am shocked and saddened by the assassination of my friend and longtime partner Shinzo Abe in Japan. Former Prime Minister Abe was devoted to both the country he served and the extraordinary alliance between the United States and Japan.” 

Further, Japanese tennis star, Naomi Osaka expressed her grief with some emojis.

The four-time Grand Slam champion withdrew from the clay-court Grand Slam tournament citing mental-health issues. She took this decision before her second-round match at the tournament. Recently, she spoke about taking this bold decision.

Osaka said, “I was kind of hiding inside my house for, like, two weeks… And even though I was a bit scared, I was happy with the choice that I made.”

Earlier this year, Naomi Osaka suffered from an Achilles injury that forced her to miss the Italian Open. Further, the injury hasn’t healed and resulted in Osaka skipping the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.

However, the former world number one is hoping to be back to full fitness for the upcoming hard-court season. It’ll be interesting to see how Osaka performs in her comeback.
