Halep played brilliantly at the Australian Open 2021. She made an incredible comeback against Veronika Kudermetova and also took her revenge on Iga Swiatek. However, the mighty Serena Williams thrashed her in the quarters, and that ended her journey at the Grand Slam.

As Naomi Osaka won the Australian Open 2021 title, she also climbed one spot in the WTA rankings. She replaced Halep from the second spot, and the Romanian player is now third in the rankings.

On the other hand, Bianca Andreescu didn’t enjoy a great comeback. Hsieh Su-wei eliminated her from the Grand Slam in the second round, and she faced a lot of trouble in that match. After the Australian Open 2021, she also played at the Phillip Island Trophy, where she lost to Marie Bouzkova in the semis. Fans will hope that Andreescu’s injury is not that serious and that she’ll recover soon.
