Halep played brilliantly at the Australian Open 2021. She made an incredible comeback against Veronika Kudermetova and also took her revenge on Iga Swiatek. However, the mighty Serena Williams thrashed her in the quarters, and that ended her journey at the Grand Slam.
As Naomi Osaka won the Australian Open 2021 title, she also climbed one spot in the WTA rankings. She replaced Halep from the second spot, and the Romanian player is now third in the rankings.
