The movie based on the life of Venus and Serena Williams’ father, Richard Williams, recently hit the theatres. The name of the film is ‘King Richard’ and interestingly, renowned actor, Will Smith is playing the character of Richard in the movie.

The film throws light on the struggles of Richard Williams and how he shaped and transformed his two daughters into two of the greatest tennis players of all time. Even Venus and Serena are playing a part in the film, as they are both executive producers.

Simona Halep visits the theatres to watch Serena Williams’ father’s biopic

Recently, former World No.1 Simona Halep paid visited a theatre to watch the biopic of Serena’s father, ‘King Richard’. She posted a story on her Instagram handle in which one can see her with a bucket of popcorn with a movie screen in front of her. The Romanian seemed to have a great time watching the film during the off season break.

“#kingrichardmovie,” wrote Halep alongside her Instagram story.

Fans are already in awe of ‘King Richard’. While some hailed Smith’s wonderful acting in the movie, others rated it as one of the best sports film ever.

How much has King Richard earned at the box office so far?

It has been nearly a week since the release of King Richard and the film is doing pretty well on the box office. In the five days so far, it has earned a total of $9,115,531 worldwide.

The budget of the film was $50 million and thus, it has made a pretty decent start, especially at a time when people are still hesitant about watching movies in theatres. Apart from getting released on the big screens, fans can also watch the movie on the online streaming platform, HBO Max.

Fans of Will Smith have really high expectations from King Richard. Will the film be able to fetch him an Oscar this year?
