The Simona Halep saga has finally come to an end. Having battled her case for around a year and a half, the Romanian star has finally found glory after her ban was drastically reduced from 4 years to 9 months. As soon as the message went viral, wishes from all around the world started to fill her social media. One amongst them was none other than her former coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
The former coach of Serena Williams took to his social media as the doping saga finally ended and had a heartfelt message for the 2-time grand slam winner. Interestingly, Mouratoglou has received a lot of criticism from the fans lately after putting Halep through trouble.

Patrick Mouratoglou champions Simona Halep’s triumph as truth prevails in doping controversy reduction
In a recent revelation, Simona Halep’s former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou came ahead to celebrate a significant victory after Halep’s doping ban was shortened from 4 years to 9 months. Initially, Mouratoglou was the one who had taken responsibility for the banned substance in Halep’s blood, but now, in his Instagram story, he only had a joyful message for the Romanian star.

Posting a message to his Instagram story, he said, “Truth has prevailed,” while talking about the positive turn in Halep’s doping saga. Mouratoglou’s support becomes a turning point, as he shifts the focus away from Halep’s involvement in the controversy. This reduction not only brings relief to Halep but also reshapes the narrative surrounding her. Once the center of controversy, Mouratoglou seems to be firmly on his former mentee’s side.
Having served the ban from the sport in 2022, Halep’s ban was over technically in June 2023. That being said, she is now eligible to return to the tennis court with immediate effect. But, for those who may not be aware, Patrick Mouratoglou, back in the day took complete responsibility for the doping saga.

Mouratoglou pointed to himself as the main person behind Halep’s doping saga
In a video shared a few months ago, Simona Halep’s former coach Patrick Mouratoglou suggested that he was the one who brought the collagen that got Halep into trouble. While he was completely unaware, he felt that he was responsible for whatever happened to her.

“We brought her collagen from a company. This collagen happened to be contaminated,” Mouratoglou said. “There was no way to know it. But I feel responsible for what happened because it’s my team — so me, basically — who brought her this collagen.”
