Darren Cahill’s support for Simona Halep during the dark times of her career
Former Wimbledon and French Open champion Simone Halep, 32, was suspended in October 2022 after testing positive for an illegal drug called Roxadustat during the US Open. Later that year, she was also accused of some irregularities found in her athlete’s biological passport (ABP), leading to a ban for four years. However, her appeal to the court resulted in a reduction of the ban to nine months. Cahill was Halep’s pillar of strength during the entire affair, providing constant assurance and standing by her appeal for innocence.
