Vekic had thought of saying goodbye to sports after injuries, but when Pam Shriver became her coach, things turned around. Results show Vekic could lift her game with Shriver’s incisive tips and probably sharp humor. The latest was her hilarious display of wit on the birthday of the Croatian star.

Former American tennis star Pam Shriver took to Twitter to wish Donna Vekic on her birthday. She hilariously talked about her association with her and at the same time inspired her to the Wimbledon. She wrote, “Happy birthday @DonnaVekic a player brave enough to bring me onto their team. Let’s have many happy returns @Wimbledon.”

Vekic added Shriver to her coaching team after she was a finalist at the San Diego Open. Though Nikola Harovat is her primary coach, Pam Shriver’s influence on her game is quite visible. She was able to hit new milestones after making a comeback from knee surgery. When coached by the winner of 133 tour titles, including 21 singles titles, things will for sure be different, as results show.

She was a finalist in the German Open in 2023. She was a winner at the Monterrey Open and a quarter finalist in the Australian Open. And Vekic has expressed her gratitude to the star.

The tennis chemistry between Vekic and Shriver

The Croatian star had in the past expressed her gratitude and jubilation in working with Pam Shriver. And she has recognized Shriver’s potential influence on her game and also praised her forthright attitude. She said, “She said yes, which is a huge honor for me to have such a champion wanting to work with me. I really believe that she can bring a lot to my game. I always like that from any coaches, for them to be direct.”

She has received devoted support from Pam Shriver across continents. Even though in the German Open she couldn’t be in Berlin but she ensured to give tips to Vekic from Los Angeles. The tournament saw the Croatian tennis star decimate the big tennis names. Though she lost the final to Petra Kvitova, later. In shade and sun, in nearness and distance and with amusing words, Pam Shriver was there for Vekic to push the boundaries.
