Snubbed by Olympia a While Ago, Serena Williams Swiftly Paves Baby Adira’s Path to Tennis

Tennis legend, Serena Williams, has time and again revealed that she’s open to letting her daughters take up any career path they’re interested in. What if they have interests in sports? Well, then she wants to make sure her daughters are paid what they are worth! Do her daughters, Olympia and Adira, have any interests in the racquet sport, though? We have seen the elder daughter play the sport a few times in the last few years with her mommy and daddy, surprisingly she hasn’t shown much interest in it. What about the younger one, then?

Olympia is seen mostly playing golf with her father, Alexis Ohanian. Speaking on her disinterest in tennis, Serena Williams once admitted that her elder daughter “doesn’t actually like to play tennis too much.” How does Serena Williams look at this, though? “That’s a little disappointing for me, but she’s actually really good at it. So we are trying to figure out a way to get her to play a little bit,” said Williams in a previous conversation. However, in the last few months, Williams has been spotted trying to introduce her younger daughter to the sport!

On Monday, November 4, Serena Williams shared a video on her IG, and in that video clip, she was spotted standing together with Adira on a tennis court. In that reel, Adira was seen picking up a tennis ball and looking up at the mother, who then pointed to a basket filled with tennis balls. Serena Williams was heard saying, “Hey Adira, put it in here!” However, hilariously, after hearing this, we saw the little kid running away from her mother, throwing the ball against a fence and walking over to a white bench. And Serena Williams was like, “She was just doing it, man. We turned on the camera. She don’t want to do it.”

Serena Williams captioned that post saying, “When’s too early? @adiraohanian“, to which Ohanian said, “She better be doing her drills…” Then recently, Serena Williams yet again uploaded a video clip on her TikTok account. She was spotted giving tennis lessons to Adira. She captioned that post asking, “Is there a too early?“

We don’t know whether Olympia and Adira will follow in the footsteps of their mother or not, but what are Serena Williams’ major concerns if they take up the racquet sport?

Well, in 2018, during an interview, Serena Williams interestingly revealed, “I would hope she (Olympia) doesn’t play tennis. It’s a lot of work. A lot. Plus I don’t want her to have pressure from what I did, people talking about ‘Are you going to be able to do as good as your mom?’. I don’t want her to have that.” 

All she wants is to let her daughters look at her career and learn that being “authentic” to themselves is the really most important thing in life. “You don’t have to be the best as long as you do your best,” said Williams.

Talking about Olympia’s disinterest in tennis, even in 2022, we heard her say, “She’s my little friend. We do everything together. We go on dates and it’s so good because she likes everything I do… except tennis! She’s really fun. I see a lot of my personality in her.” Does Alexis Ohanian find any similarity between his wife and her elder daughter?

Alexis Ohanian speaks about seeing Serena Williams’ reflection in Olympia

During a previous interview, Alexis Ohanian made a very heartwarming admission about Olympia. He said, “There are certain things I see in myself. In her, there’s certain things I see in my wife and her there things that just feel like, just her totally different.” Tennis fans are always very keen to see these two kids with the racquet in their hands, so they always wish to see them learning tennis things from their super mom, but has she ever tried to push her into these things?

“Maybe I can push her into tennis by getting other kids to have a group lesson. I think that’s what I’m gonna do,” said Serena Williams. During that same interview with Norah O’Donnell, she added, “Don’t even start with me because I’m not giving her tennis lessons. I signed her up for some. I’m not a pushy mom, but I know how I like techniques. I want to make sure she’s good at teaching Olympia some techniques.” 

Olympia seems to be interested in multiple other things than just tennis, but what about her dad? Does Alexis Ohanian have a keen interest in the sport? Well, even here there is an interesting story!

Previously during an interview, Ohanian claimed, “I hated tennis until I met my wife.” Alexis Ohanian is always someone who has been more inclined towards the NFL than any other sport. In an interview with Vanity Fair, he stated he has “never watched a match on television or in real life…I had no respect for tennis.” However, his destiny had other plans!

Marrying one of the greatest tennis players of all time brought an astonishing change to his perspective on the sport. “Then I came to watch tennis. It’s one of the big sports, it’s the most pure what people wanna see is two people being the best and a winner and a loser. And it feeling as objective as humanly possible,” said the husband of the 23-time Grand Slam champion.
