At 18, Coco Gauff is doing things that are difficult to fathom. She has defied age to become one of the elite players in women’s tennis. Further, she is one of the few players who are at the top of their game in singles as well as doubles.

The American teenager is currently in Paris to participate in the French Open 2022. Before the tournament, Gauff completed her graduation from the Florida Virtual Flex program. Subsequently, she shared her graduation picture before the Eiffel Tower. Many fellow players on the tour congratulated her on achieving this feat. Recently, she received a special message from the former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama took to Instagram to praise Gauff on her graduation. She said, “Yes, you did!! Congratulations [Coco Gauff]! The sky is truly the limit.” Further, reacting to this message, Gauff said, “So grateful for this… thank you.” Gauff posted this as a story on her official Instagram handle.

Talking about her graduation journey, Gauff mentioned, “The time zones are tough when I have to do school. When I want to call my teachers, they’re sleeping. Everything else has been easy to adjust to.”

Gauff advances at the French Open

The 18-year-old is having a great tournament in Paris. Yesterday, she defeated Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) to advance to the fourth round. It was a dominating performance by the American teenager, completing the match in under an hour and a half. In the next round, Gauff will take on the 31st seed in the tournament, Elise Mertens.

Gauff is also plying her trade in women’s doubles, where she is the eighth seed with partner Jessica Pegula. The duo had a comfortable straight-set victory in the second round, defeating Monica Niculescu and Alison Van Uytvanck 6-3, 6-1.
