Sofia Kenin Joins Hands With a New Coach Ahead of the US Open 2021

After withdrawing the Cincinnati Open, Sofia Kenin has shifted her focus towards the US Open. The American national has also started working on a trial basis with a new coach until the commencement of the US Open. Sofia, the WTA World No. 4, is the highest ranked player from the US in both men’s and women’s rankings.
Sofia withdrew from the Cincinnati Open due to a foot injury. The American’s last tournament was the Wimbledon Championships in June. She has revealed that a week’s rest is necessary for her in order to play at the US Open later this month.

Kenin, still the highest-ranked American man or woman at #4, pulled out of #CincyTennis due to an infected toenail that had prevented her from practicing.

Sofia Kenin joins hands with new coach
After parting ways with her father in May, Sofia Kenin needed some time for herself. Her father, Alex Kenin, had played his part in the success of her career so far. The 2020 Australian Open champion has joined hands with a new coach in Miami, whose name is still unknown. She will be working with them until the end of this month for the US Open.
Sofia has always had a bright future and is a huge prospect in the women’s singles category. Her early exit at the Wimbledon Championships raised a few eyebrows around the world. The World No.4 injured her toenail during a practice session which forced her to withdraw from the Cincinnati Open.

Sofia’s 2021 so far
Sofia’s 2021 has not replicated the success that she found in 2020. In 2020, the American won the Australian Open and reached the French Open final as well. However, she has only gone as far as the quarterfinals this year. Her Grand Slam record has also been very poor this year with her best finish at the Roland Garros when she reached the last 16.
