2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin had a rough 2021 season, filled with injuries and uncertainties. As a result, she failed to claim a single WTA title this year and registered a low 11-10 win-loss record. Besides, the American star had to end her season post her Wimbledon loss in July due to injury. But now, Kenin has shared some good news before starting the preparations for the 2022 season.

Earlier, the 22-year-old had announced that her father, Alex Kenin, would no longer remain as her coach. Instead, Kenin had claimed that she would hire a new technical team ahead of the 2022 season. Now, even though the details of her new unit are still unknown, the American star confirmed that her father would be a part of it.

Primarily, Kenin was happy to announce that she finally resumed tennis training since her Wimbledon exit. In addition, she also lauded her father, Alex Kenin, for his endless support.

Most significantly, the 22-year-old American revealed that her father would remain in her team; however, his designation in the new crew remains undisclosed.

“This year has been a very bumpy road for me; I’m finally back to training and doing what I love! I’m happy to have my dad in my life who has always been there for me through thick and thin,” Kenin wrote on Instagram. “Excited that he’s part of my team, and I’m super excited to get back on court competing again next year.”

From here on, the former World No.4 would be looking forward to having a flourishing pre-season. Accordingly, she would indeed want to go back to her winning ways next year.
