While the former dominated in men’s doubles, the Williams sisters excelled in both singles as well as doubles. Recently, the elder Williams sister opened up about how Serena played a key role in her career.

During their childhood days, they practiced the sport together under the watchful eyes of their father, Richard Williams. The hard work done early on in their careers bore fruit as they went on to achieve legendary status in tennis.

Venus lauds Serena Williams for her success

During an interview, the seven-time Grand Slam champion narrated how Serena helped her in shaping her career. Talking about this, Venus said, “She’s been my role model. No one knows more what I’m going through than she does. She’s someone who understands me without even saying a word.”

Further, she added, “I know that it’s unusual to have a sibling in sports, but it is the only experience I know so I can’t imagine not having one. From what I understand, 99 percent of people do it alone but I never had to.”
