Paula Badosa has been on the wrong side of fate this year. She entered this year ranked 13, but injuries and poor performances have dropped her rank to 54. Now, the Spanish beauty is once again out of the tour due to an injury. She is keeping her fans updated about her life through social media. In one of her recent updates, Badosa became quite emotional as she talked about wanting to return as soon as possible.
Badosa first sustained the injury before the US Open, which caused her to withdraw. She was set to play Venus Williams but gave way to another player by withdrawing. The news became great news for fans of Queen V, and Badosa was caught in the crossfire of their comments.

The former number two has entered a big slump this season. Badosa’s 2023 year has been riddled with injuries which have caused her downfall. She came back to the sport during Wimbledon and gave her fans hope after winning the first round. However, her health was not up to par, and she had to retire in the second round, aiming to recover and come back at 100%.
But she has been unable to do that. She has missed all tournaments, followed by Wimbledon. Frustrated at the recent lack of professional tennis, Badosa shared her agony with her fans. She wrote a message on Twitter which showed her distress. She wrote, “I miss tennis sooooooo much 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭😭“. Badosa repeated the message in Spanish as well, “Echando muuuuuucho de menos jugar a tenis 😣😣😣😣😣“.

Badosa receives flak for withdrawal
When the draws for the US Open were announced, Badosa was set to play with Venus Williams in the opening round. But she withdrew because of injury, and Williams faced qualifier Greet Minnen. Fans of Queen V flamed Badosa, as many said Williams was the one who would withdraw before the bout with Minnen was set. Some fans even speculated that Badosa was not injured and withdrew because of Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The withdrawal marked the start of another absence that would last months. As the WTA season is about to wrap up, Badosa’s rank is bound to fall even more. Now, her main focus will be to return to form next year and climb back to the top once again. But regardless of the possibility, the 2023 season will remain a dark mark in her career.
