He said, “There have been great women athletes for a very long time laboring under horrible conditions, unfair pay, but let’s unpack it some more. The US Open is a rare case study of a women’s and men’s tournament played at the same time that are now thanks to a lot of great work, Billie Jean King, providing equal pay, equal marketing support, equal stakes, equal everything.” 

He also talked about his wife and his sister Venus Williams‘ contribution to the US Open. He mentioned how they also lifted women’s tennis to greater heights. Not to forget, Ohanian was also there to witness how the Arthur Ashe crowd embraced his wife, Serena, during her final US Open appearance last year.

The 23-time Grand Slam Champion’s husband then made a major revelation that more Americans prefer to watch the women’s US Open final than the men’s.

Soon after his post, the 40-year-old entrepreneur received responses from other women’s tennis veterans. They acknowledged his efforts to bring women’s contribution to the sport. His wife’s former coach, Rennae Stubbs, also gave a two-word reply to the Reddit co-founder.

Rennae Stubbs, the 52-year-old Australian tennis coach, shared the same video in her Instagram story. She mentioned a sweet message for the 23-time Grand Slam Champion’s husband’s amazing effort to put women’s tennis on top. Along with that amazing video, she wrote, “I ❤️ you @alexisohanian,” expressing her emotions.

Rennae Stubbs and Serena Williams have a close relationship. Stubbs was a long-time admirer of Williams’ game. She joined her coaching team for the 2022 US Open. Williams has said that Stubbs helped her to rediscover her love of the game and to believe in herself again. Stubbs has also praised Williams for her resilience and her ability to overcome challenges.
