“Perhaps some synchronicity karma for Coco Gauff as today is the anniversary of Arthur Ashe winning the 1968 #USOpen and fellow 19-year-old American, Pete Sampras, winning his first @USOpen title. Do you have the @ThisDayInTennis book??!??!” wrote Randy in the Tweet.

It’s a moment that reflects mere coincidence, underscoring the incredible journey of a young talent who is following in the footsteps of greatness. However, talking about the match, it was a pure joy to watch.
Coco Gauff defeats Aryna Sabalenka to win the US Open title
Even though Coco Gauff entered the stadium as the clear favorite, it was Aryna Sabalenka who proved to be a formidable force to Gauff in the first set. With confidence screaming in her eyes, she comfortably won the first set 6-2, thanks to some unforced errors from Gauff and Sabalenka’s breathtaking shots.
The second set started with Coco already under pressure. This was her last and only attempt to stand a chance to lay her hands at the title. Coco started the set in some style. She learnt from her previous mistakes to start the second set on a high. With a score of 3-1, she looked in a comfortable spot to win the set. With each point gone, Sabalenka’s frustration grew. Even though she secured a couple of points, it could not help her as she lost the second set 6-3.

However, there was nothing that she could have done in front of Gauff’s prowess. With a comfortable third-set win, Coco managed to land her first ever US Open title.
