Venus Williams playfully resists post-retirement plans  

On August 14, the former world number one upset the 16-ranked tennis player to record her first win over a top-20 opponent since 2019. At the time, she defeated Kiki Bertens in the same tournament. After defeating the 26-year-old Russian tennis player during the on-court interview, the seven-time Grand Slam champion was pumped up after her victory. She joked when asked about why she was still playing at her age instead of having a relaxing vacation.

A video clip from her interview is doing rounds on Twitter, in which she dished off the retirement idea of sitting on a yacht hilariously. The interviewer questioned, “You could be on a yacht anywhere you want in the world right now. Where does the determination come from?”

To which the $97 million-worth American tennis legend replied, “Where’s the yacht gonna be?.. stop tempting me.” it won’t be wrong to say that, she prioritized her drive and determination to play professional tennis instead of enjoying her post-retirement life.

Further, Venus also talked about how the past years were a little tough for her, but she kept the temptations away and emphasized her love and passion for the sport.

Not only that, a few months ago, before her comeback, the seven-time Grand Slam champion got a little personal by sharing a life philosophy related to her retirement.
