Great Britain would be facing the Czech Republic. US Open champion Emma Raducanu is leading the team to play in the finals of the Cup, which earlier was known as the Fed Cup. Emma would not only be playing the Billie Jean King Cup for the first time, but it will also be her first time on a professional clay court.

The team looks in a good shape. We saw her practicing with her teammates after she arrived in Prague. Raducanu appreciated her team and said, “I like it, straight into the red zone”. Furthermore, we could see the players warming up and playing on the clay court.

They could be seen practicing with a spike ball as well. The team dynamics seem to be strong, as we could see them enjoying themselves in each other’s company.

Status of other countries

The Czechs have had a good experience with the Billie Jean King Cup. It has been a strong team and since 2011 has secured six victories. The team would be missing out on major players like Karolina Pliskova, Barbora Krejcikova, and Petra Kvitova. However, the team still has strong players led by Marketa Vondrousova. Other players are Katerina Siniakova, Tereza Martincova and Karolina Muchova.

Russia and Belarus are not allowed to play this year following the military conflict. The qualifying ties would be taking place from April 15-April 16. World no. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland and world no. 10 Jessica Pegula of the USA will also be participating in securing their respective country’s positions in the finals.
