But the humble teen partly credits her success to something unexpected altogether.

Emphasizing her recent stellar performances, the current world No. 3 has now revealed her secret sauce to success at the tournament. In doing so, the young WTA sensation turned all superstitious. Preparing to face off against her arch-rival and former World No. 1 Iga Świątek next, she brought to light a famous Asian local delicacy that might help her prevail in the much-awaited encounter.

The American tennis prodigy recently overcame the 6th seed Greek Maria Sakkari in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, as she secured a place in the next round of the ongoing China Open. In order to advance to the championship match, the newly crowned US Open champion will now have to battle her fierce adversary, Iga Świątek.

Prior to the highly anticipated matchup, Gauff opened up about how eating a famous Chinese local cuisine has helped her perform at optimum levels during the tournament. In an on-court interview, the 19-year-old was asked if eating noodles might give her more power to compete against her opponents.

Gauff, powering through her first tournament as a Slam champion, nonchalantly answered, “For sure. I’ve been eating noodles every day. I don’t think anything is gonna change. Especially because I’m winning.”

When asked to clarify whether she eats Chinese noodles on a daily basis, the American tennis sensation said, “Yeah!” The WTA player’s ‘fast food’ superstitious revelations have not come as a surprise as she has already confessed her love for the popular Asian dish.

At the very start of the tournament in Beijing, the American tennis star made an honest confession about her food preference. In an interview after her first-round victory, the current world No. 3 opened up about how she is enjoying her stay in the city while savoring her favorite Chinese fast food item, “noodles”.

While lavishing praise on the local Asian cuisine, the tennis prodigy revealed how she has been eating it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As she is currently relishing noodles for every meal of the day during her recent participation, Gauff further revealed that she regards it as one of the best delicacies.
