Nobody knows how long TikTok is going to last. But Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian believes that the video-making and sharing app is probably on the verge of going out of business. The founder of 776 recently opened up in an interview with Inc., about his perspective as a serial entrepreneur. In that conversation, he shared his take on why he believes that app’s lifespan is very limited when compared to other growing apps of a similar nature. Not only that, he also emphasized on how the TikTok enthusiasm might be dying among the Gen Z kids, who were once fond of the same app.
Detailing how the video-sharing app achieved its fame, he said, “TikTok is still hacking our brains. We’re not connecting with anyone, we’re just hamsters on the wheel trying to figure out how to get another reward.” Although he credited TikTok for making use of our need for the next latest app, he emphazised how everything can quickly run aground, especially if there are better apps or business ideas.

However, it feels like TikTok was not among the Reddit co-founder’s favorite social media apps. Last year, Ohanian listed that TikTok was the biggest threat to Google searches, when fans pointed fingers at Reddit for turning out to be an actual threat.

The Reddit co-founder released a statement when he found out that people believed the app created by him will turn out to be the biggest threat to Google in the future. He shared his take about the actual threat which will come from the preference of the Gen Z.

After his company lost the popularity battle with TikTok, Ohanian stated that it’s not Reddit that will create a problem in the future. But with the growing popularity of the video-making app, he believed that in the next 10 years, the app is likely to have a lot of short-form videos. And added that this will turn out to be a huge problem in the future.
