Amid loud cheers, Iga Swiatek strikes gold again with another French Open title! Now that the world number one has tightened its grip on the No. 1 spot with the fourth French Open title and following WTA titles, before that, she has a worrying situation for her fans. She stated, “Due to overall physical and mental fatigue after an intense 9 weeks, unfortunately, I do need to withdraw from the tournament in Berlin in order to rest and recover.” She made history by becoming the youngest woman to win three straight Roland Garros singles titles. This was her third consecutive Hologic WTA Tour victory of the season.

With this triumph, her nearly flawless clay season came to an end. She finished with a 21-1 record and 19 straight victories. After Serena Williams, she became just the second woman, to sweep the Madrid Open, Internazionali BNL d’Italia, and French Open in a single season, despite the physical troll.

However, Jasmine Paolini of Italy, the runner-up at the French Open, was forced to withdraw from the competition because of a right knee injury. Luckily, Tamara Korpatsch will take her place. Due to Paolini’s withdrawal, the doubles tournament is no longer open to her and her partner, Laura Siegemund.

Subsequently, even though the world number one won another major title, she was disappointed as the tournament ended; not because of any rules or games, but because of the trophy she received.

Iga Swiatek unhappy with the French Open trophy

Despite winning her fourth French Open championship this weekend, Iga Swiatek remained unimpressed by Roland Garros. She could not disguise her disappointment, even if she had added another Suzanne-Lenglen cup to her collection. Iga Swiatek was handed the silverware, and when she removed the lid and peered inside, she saw it was empty and smiled ruefully.

To her surprise, hidden inside was an Italian tiramisu pudding. She famously reacted by saying, “Wow, who did that? Thank you guys, thank you. I really appreciate that.” However, the French organizers have not yet added a confection to the trophy. Laughing, Swiatek put on a gloomy expression when she realized her award came with no such joy.
