After a long wait of 12 years, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), with the purpose to champion women and raise the stand of women in the sport, entered into a new global title sponsorship deal. The association shook hands with the Hologic, a women-focused health tech firm. Strengthening its commitment towards financial well-being together with empowering female players throughout their journey.

With WTA’s last title sponsorship $88 million deal, with Sony Ericson in 2005, ended in 2010. Consequently, from 2010 till 2022, the Women’s Tennis Association had been without a global title sponsor. Rejoicing the partnership, WTA president Micky Lawler said, “From the start, we knew Hologic was the right partner.”

Players react to WTA-Hologic deal
Tennis legend and Former World No. 1 Billie Jean King founded the Women’s Tennis Association in 1973. Cheering about the partnership, the 78-year-old American took to her Twitter, putting up a tweet. The tweet read, “The partnership between WTA and Hologic, the largest global sponsorship in WTA history, is great news for women’s tennis. I am so proud the WTA continues to be the global leader in women’s sports.”

Recently, in a social media statement, former World No. 1, Chris Evert, revealed her Stage 1 Ovarian cancer. And how detection at an early stage saved her life. Evert took to her Twitter, appreciating the partnership with the women-focused health firm while linking it to her health. The Tweet read, “It’s so heartening to see the WTA’s landmark partnership with Hologic. Early detection and screening saved my life. For our sport to be supported by an organization that cares so much for women’s health really means a great deal to me personally.”

Another former World No. 1, Simona Halep tweeted about the partnership, resharing WTA’s post. She welcomed Hologic on board along with thanking them for their support. Her tweet read, “Welcome to women’s tennis and thanks for your support Hologic.”

In the long list of players congratulating WTA for its new deal, current World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty also didn’t shy from expressing herself. Knowing the importance of fitness and health in a player’s life, Barty said, “As a professional athlete who relies on my health to perform at the highest level, I’m excited that Hologic has partnered with the WTA”.
