After dominating tennis for over 20 years, American sisters, Venus and Serena Williams, have accomplished nearly everything there is to accomplish in the sport. The younger sibling has won an unbelievable 23 Grand Slam tournament. On the other hand, Venus has won 7 Grand Slam singles titles, more than anyone else.

Together, they have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic doubles gold medals. Interestingly, they have also been one of the main crowd-pullers in women’s tennis. Recently, Serena’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, credited Williams sisters for making tennis more widespread among Americans.

Alexis Ohanian attributes tennis’ popularity to Venus and Serena
Alexis Ohanian participated in the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Annual Salute to Women in Sports in New York on October 12, 2022. He then went on to get the Champion for Equality Award.

During his victory speech, the 39-year-old credited Serena Williams and her elder sister Venus for making tennis more widespread among Americans and said, “Like I said, I’ve had a front-row seat to it because the sport of tennis came to life thanks to a couple of little girls from Compton who no one even believed should have been there in the first place and again facts over feelings.”
