Swiatek truly brought Poland’s name into the sphere of global tennis. However, the scene wasn’t like this from the beginning. In a recent interview, Iga revealed that the tennis community kept more faith in other country’s players. But Iga truly shined through her skills.

Since Russians had more titles during her growing days and Americans had Serena Williams, players from those countries were treated more professionally in tennis. They were thought better compared to Polish tennis players. In Iga’s words-“At that stage I felt that, despite my results similar to those of my classmates from other countries, the community did not fully believe in my success as a senior. The Russians won more then and the Americans had Serena Williams, who promoted tennis around the world. It seemed to me that girls from those countries were more successful and their environment treated them differently.”
