Patrick Mouratoglou has been one of the best tennis coaches in the past decade. The former coach of Serena Williams is working full time with Simona Halep now, playing an instrumental role in the Romanian’s comeback from a long-term injury. Recently, Halep had a brilliant run in the Wimbledon Championships 2022. She reached the semifinals, where she went down against the eventual champion, Elena Rybakina.

On many occasions, Halep has credited Mouratoglou for her upturn in form. The Frenchman also runs a tennis academy called the Mouratoglou Academy, where he prepares budding tennis players for the future.

Recently, he shared a video explaining the importance of the right mindset to become successful in life.

Patrick Mouratoglou on the importance of the right mindset

On his Instagram account, Mouratoglou explained the importance of having the right mindset to be successful in any field. Speaking about the champion’s mindset, he said,

“Champions, they have the mindset and the mindset builds the tennis. So it’s all about the mindset. And this is true for everything. Whatever you do, if you have the right mindset you are gonna make it. Some players that I know they are champions in their minds.”

Further, he cited examples of a young Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams

“I remember Novak. He was 17. You don’t think wow! His tennis is incredible! No, but the mindset is unbelievable. He has the ultimate mindset of a champion. Same as Serena. So they develop their tennis,” he added.

Adding to that, he spoke about his role as a coach in developing the same.

“Our job is to help people process in a way that it makes them become what they want to become. Because they all want to succeed. But they have no idea how because they don’t know how they should process. You need to feel confident that you are going to make it. Otherwise, you will never ever try because you’ll be too scared to fail because everybody’s scared to fail,” he concluded.

Simona Halep credits Mouratoglou for Wimbledon resurgence

After having an unremarkable season, Halep finally looked like her past self in the Wimbledon Championship 2022. She has been working with Mouratoglou for quite some time now.

Speaking to the media after her quarterfinal win against Amanda Anisimova, she praised the Frenchman. She credited Mouratoglou for bringing her confidence back.
