The former tennis star, however, lost to Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka in the semifinals.

When Serena Williams cracked herself with a joke

During the post-match conference, a reporter questioned the former world number one regarding the last time she felt that these kinds of rallies and amazing shots belonged to her. The 23-time Grand Slam champion gave a sarcastic reply before turning to a serious answer.

The 41-year-old tennis player at the time crossed her legs, folded her arms, and cracked herself with a joke. She said, “It’s definitely been a minute. It’s been a long minute. I think 1926 — the summer of 1926, I think — was the last time I felt that.” However, the tennis legend herself was born in the year 1981.
