One of the most prominent characters in the series, besides Rocky Balboa himself, was Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers. While he did not take on many more roles, he would live on as a legendary actor. Unfortunately, he recently passed away.

Serena Williams’ husband pays tribute to Apollo Creed

Carl Weathers lives large in the minds of 80s and 90s kids. The actor who covered the iconic roles of Apollo Creed, Dillion from Predator, Detective Sergeant Jericho Jackson in Action Jackson, and more made the childhood of many. Alexis Ohanian is one of those individuals. Serena Williams’ husband, like millions around the world, is mourning his passing.

Ohanian shared a short clip from Rocky 3 to pay tribute to him in the best way he could. Apollo Creed is trying to motivate Rocky, who tells him he’ll get serious ‘tomorrow’. Angered by his words, Creed shouts, “There is no tomorrow”. With the video, he also wrote, “RIP Carl”. There is no clear cause as to how he passed away. At the moment, his family has said that he passed away peacefully in his sleep.

The star’s most recent prominent role took place in the show, Mandalorian, where he played the role of Greef Karga. Along with Ohanian, many others have shared their tribute for the passing of Weathers.

Weathers was also a linebacker in the NFL, where he played for the Oakland Raiders. He then went undrafted in 1970 and signed to play in the Canadian Football League. He had a short career in the sport, but the entire world of football has come out to mourn his passing. Former NFL Linebacker OJ Simpson shared a video on his ‘X’ page, where he recalled a story of how the two first met. 

Weathers started acting in 1973 when he landed a role in Magnum Force. He would eventually transition to acting and would go on to live in the hearts of many. His passing shocked the entire world, but he has been immortalized in his roles.
