Coco Gauff and Serena Williams have a lot in common. They were both extremely successful at a young age and have also made a name for themselves in both singles and doubles.

After watching Serena win the Australian Open on television in 2009, 4-year-old Coco told her parents that she wanted to play tennis. Six years later, she started her training at the Mouratoglou Academy in France, supervised by Patrick Mouratoglou, who had been Williams’ longtime coach.
Williams won the title in Melbourne two years later. Gauff won the US Open girls’ singles title eight months later, making history as the tournament’s youngest finalist. She was thirteen years old.
Gauff talks about the movie ‘King Richard’
During the US Open press conference, Coco Gauff talked about her views on the movie ‘King Richard. She said, “I mean, it wasn an amazing movie. It won an Oscar, a couple. I don’t know how many. Yeah, it was a great movie.”

Gauff also stated that she already knew the story of the film, but it was better to see it on video. She said, “I knew the story, to be honest, already beforehand. It was cool to see it on video. You hear things from ear to ear and seeing all that stuff in the movie.”

She also said that she would like to watch another film based on her idol. “I’m sure she’s going to have something else coming out. I mean, that was just the younger version. I’m sure there’s going to be a whole ‘nother movie about her. At least I hope so. I would love to see that.”
When she was asked about a possible ‘King’ Richard’s sequel, she jokingly replied, “Well, no. No, no, no. There’s no movie confirmed. Don’t say that. You guys are going to get me in trouble. There’s no movie I’m just saying, I’m assuming there’s going to be… C’mon, there has to be another one. I hope so.”
Coco Gauff discusses her relationship with Serena Williams
Gauff stated that Williams isn’t close to many of the women on the tour because she’s much older than the majority of them. Also, she only sees her at tennis tournaments, despite the fact that they both live in Palm Beach County.

“I mean, I don’t speak to her all the time. We’re completely two different ages. When I do see her at the tournaments, yeah, I speak to her a little bit.”
Coco Gauff believes that if the Williams sisters had not become tennis superstars, she would not have pursued the sport with the same enthusiasm.

Gauff, who is only 18 years old, has climbed the ranks to join the elite group of tennis players on the WTA Tour. She had a fantastic season, reaching both the singles and doubles finals at the French Open. She also broke through to the top of the WTA doubles rankings.
