It is a well-known fact that Richard Williams had a huge impact on his daughters, Serena Williams and Venus Williams’ careers. Along with their father, it was Rick Macci who played an important role early in their careers. Moreover, he was the first professional coach of the Williams sisters. Recently, he opened up on an interesting message that he received from a parent.
Serena’s former coach reveals a message from a parent

The 67-year-old, who runs the Rick Macci Tennis Academy in the United States, had a fitting reply for a parent when they compared their kid to Serena Williams. Talking about this, Macci said, “A parent texted me and told me they have a nine year old much better than SERENA!! nicely asked at what?”

Further, he revealed recently about Richard Williams’ letter to him and the close bond he shared with the Williams family. Macci and Richard used to work day in and day out together with Serena and Venus. It not only resulted in shaping the Williams sisters’ careers but also enabled Macci to become a part of their family.

“I believed in Venus and Serena, and I saw what they had. I never saw two little girls move like that. That quick. But there was rage, there was a rage inside these kids like I never seen in my life,” Macci said, opening up on the Williams sisters.

Serena is not satisfied with 23 Grand Slam titles

Despite winning the most Grand Slam titles in the Open Era, the 40-year-old is still not satisfied with her performance. She believes that she could have had around 30 or 32 major titles.
Speaking about this, she said, “I should have been on 30 or 32 Major singles titles. The record should have been in my possession, as I had many opportunities to claim it. Still, I’m not giving up.” While Serena’s last major victory came way back in the 2017 Australian Open. she has lost four major finals since. Winning a Grand Slam title more would ensure that she levels up on Margaret Court’s record of 24 major titles.

However, Serena is out of action for over eight months now. Recently, she admitted to being back to light training and hopes to make a return later this year.
