The 4-time singles Grand Slam champion, Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, was considered one of the most promising tennis players of her generation. Throughout her tennis journey, the former Spanish tennis player faced some of the greatest athletes including the American tennis sisters, Venus and Serena Williams. In 2002, Sánchez Vicario retired at the age of 30, with 14 Grand Slam titles under her belt.
However, the former French Open champion, once made a shocking revelation that she lost a whopping $60 million after retirement. Additionally, she blamed her parents for that loss because of their mismanagement of her funds.

The Spanish former World No 1 tennis player, previously stated that her parents were obsessed with her profession. Arantxa Sánchez Vicario added that her parents also had firm control over many aspects of her tennis profession. The former French Open champion also stated that she trusted her father to manage her funds in the most beneficial way.

However, the 4-time singles Grand Slam champion was extremely disappointed when she found out about her $60 million loss. The former Spanish tennis player further stated, “They left me with nothing and I owe the tax authorities.” Sánchez Vicario earned that whopping figure because of her successes during her tennis journey. She went on to say, “How can it be that everything I achieved has vanished, that it does not exist?”

However, Sánchez Vicario’s mother later revealed to the media that their family was disappointed when they heard of their daughter accused them of her massive loss. She added that they never took any financial advantage of their tennis star daughter. Sánchez Vicario’s mother, Marisa further talked about her daughter as she stated, “Under no circumstances is she broke.”
Sánchez Vicario’s tennis journey
The Spanish former world No. 1 tennis player has played against some of the greatest players including Steffi Graf, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams. Sánchez Vicario started her illustrious tennis journey at the very young age of fourteen. She went on to dominate on the tennis court as she won 29 singles titles during her journey. Additionally, the former tennis player has Grand Slam singles titles under her belt.

Sánchez Vicario has won three French Open titles and she also made her mark in the Grand Slam event in New York when she won the U.S. Open in 1994. She defeated the German tennis legend, Graf in the final of the Grand Slam event. In 2007, the Spanish tennis star was also inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame because of her impeccable achievements on the tennis court.
