While they were talented for sure, it was only possible because of the hard work put in by the girls and their parents. Recently, their former coach Rick Macci spoke about their father Richard Williams remembering his efforts.
Rick Macci comments on Richard Williams’ honest admission
While speaking about the Williams sisters, the host asked Macci about his experience with their father, Richard Williams. Also, the host played the audio from Richard’s old interview where he admitted making her daughters pursue tennis because it was a high-paying profession.

“I thought that I can make a million dollars out of you think about that. Before they were even born. I seen a girl win a tennis tournament. And she made more than a tournament and what I made in a year do you think these kids will make a million dollars plus no question about it. They make 1 million look small.” Richard said.
Recalling his interview, Macci said that it shocked him at first, but Richard was right about the girls. Also, the former coach praised him for executing his plan really well.
“That’s a true story, I mean that’s why he got them into that, I think he just saw the way they were wired, the two special kids with the right coaching, right environment, the right opportunity, they could change the landscape and he was right,” Macci said.

Though it might sound strange, when Richard spoke about it, actually tennis is a really rewarding game if you rise to the heights, and it is one of the primary motivations for many aspiring tennis players.

Serena Williams to play in Wimbledon 2022
With the uncertainty looming over her future, the 40-year-old tennis star delighted her fans when she announced her plans to make a comeback. Serena Williams is all set to make a comeback after over a year-long gap. The 23-time Grand Slam champion will play in Wimbledon 2022 as a wild card entrant. Notably, the former world number 1 last played in the 2021 Wimbledon, where she retired midway through her first-round match because of an injury.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner is only one major title short of equalling the record for the number of major titles. It will be interesting to see if she can achieve the feat in this year’s Wimbledon Championship.
