Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian is known for his successful entrepreneurial projects, including the social media platform, Reddit. However, only a few people know about Ohanian’s family background and history. The American internet entrepreneur previously revealed that his parents were German immigrants, and they were undocumented when they first came to the United States.

Additionally, Ohanian’s great-grandparents were refugees who faced various hardships during the Armenian genocide. The Reddit cofounder recently shared an old photo of his family on his social media. Meanwhile, he also talked about his great-grandparents’ horrifying experiences during the Armenian genocides.

Alexis Ohanian talked about his family history

The founder of the capital venture firm Seven Seven Six is quite active on social media as he shares an old family photo that also includes his great-grandparents. Alexis Ohanian further captioned the picture by stating, “The Ohanians in America. They Tried to Bury Us, They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds”

The American entrepreneur went on to say that his great-grandfather saw various horrors during the Armenian genocides. He further revealed, “My great grandfather, the man on the far right, watched Turkish soldiers decapitate his parents in front of him + grew up in a Turkish orphanage.”

The Reddit cofounder further talked about his great-grandmother’s horrifying experiences as a “child on a forced march through the desert to Aleppo.” Ohanian also added that his entire family, including himself, is grateful to America for everything it has given them. He further talked about his legacy-building work, including his “776” foundation.

The tech industry figure added that Armenian people are strong and courageous. Ohanian stated, “One of the biggest mistakes you can make with an Armenian is to try and erase us. It does not work. It only makes us stronger. We will never stop thriving and it will be a daily reminder that you failed.”

Ohanian talked about immigration

As a son of German immigrants, Ohanian understands the hardships and struggles faced by the other immigrants. The American entrepreneur has also spoken about various policies related to the issue. He once stood up against the former US president, Donald Trump’s stand on immigration in the country.

Additionally, the Reddit cofounder has previously talked about his mother’s hardships as an immigrant. Ohanian revealed that his mother faced various struggles to raise the family. Subsequently, he went on to say that his mother was very young when she arrived in the United States as an immigrant from Germany without any documents. Ohanian’s father was also an immigrant.
