Chris Evert, the American tennis legend, has had several highly publicized relationships and breakups over the years. But none surprised her fans more than her divorce from former Alpine Ski racer, Andy Mill. Before splitting, the couple was involved in an 18-year marriage and had three children. In 2006, Evert separated from Mill to be with his best friend Greg Norman. However, her relationship with the former golfer ended in 15 months. After the dust settled, Evert opened up about the traits that her sons had inherited from their father in an interview and her ex-husband, Mill.

The tennis veteran, despite ending her marriage with Mill on a bitter note, has maintained a close friendship with Mill to date. She has often praised him for his parenting skills and for being there at the time of her need.

The “Great White Shark” had married Chris Evert in 2006 after divorcing his first wife of 25 years. Evert once acknowledged that she regretted breaking Andy Mill’s heart. Mill had made it clear to the public that he didn’t want to leave Evert. In an interview with The Globe and Mail in 2010, Evert spoke about her feelings regarding Mill and her family. She shared that the years she raised her kids with Mill were some of the happiest years of her life.

Evert is proud of her three sons, Colton, Nicky, and Alex. The 3-time Wimbledon Champion explained, “I’ve kept them away from tennis,“. However, Evert was quick to add the reason for the same, “They’re all skateboarders, surfers, all the X-games like their dad [her second husband Andy Mill, a former American Olympic skier]”. The couple seemed content in their marriage before divorcing in 2006. Evert’s personal life has often overshadowed her on-court accomplishments, especially after her retirement.

Mill was a two-time Olympian and a former member of the US ski racing team. Three years after their marriage in 1991, the couple welcomed their eldest son, Alex. Evert further added in the interview, “They’re fearless like him, not like me.”

Mill was once left in tears by Evert’s golfer ex-husband

Andy Mill, who was co-parenting with Evert at the time of the tennis legend’s marriage with Greg Norman, was once outraged when Norman deftly thwarted his eagerly anticipated meeting with his son. Mill had traveled from Aspen to Boca Raton by plane to spend time with his sons. Norman, however, took his son away in his private aircraft. He drove him to his property in Colorado before leaving Mill sobbing on the phone with his son. Norman’s antics with Nicky had left Mill in tears, who was already uncomfortable with the situation.

On another occasion, Norman suggested to Colton that he spend time with him instead of going to a prearranged visit with his father. Due to such conflicts, Evert’s close friends never anticipated the marriage to endure.
