World No.1 Ashleigh Barty emerged as the winner of the Wimbledon Championships 2021.Even though the Australian had to survive a three-setter challenge, she managed to pull off the last set pretty easily against Karolina Pliskova. The final scoreline of the match was 6-3, 6(4)-7(7), 6-3.

It is not just the tennis world that is congratulating and applauding Barty, the entire sports fraternity is showering the Australian with appreciation. In a recent interview, NBA star player and fellow Australian, Patrick Mills, hailed Barty for her phenomenal achievement on the Centre Court.

“Ash Barty, just incredible and amazing. 41 years since the last Australian woman to win the Wimbledon and that was Evonne Goolagong Cawley and 15 years since her first Wimbledon title. I mean she does it in a dress that’s inspired by her idol,” said Mills in the interview.

Mills was surely proud of the way Barty led her Wimbledon Championships 2021 campaign. He believes that it’s not just her win but a moment of pride for Australia as well.

“It’s all these things that give you goosebumps when you are talking about it. Amazing, inspirational for everyone in Australia, especially indigenous Australians… Just amazing, incredible,” added the NBA player.

Ashleigh Barty won her second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon 2021. She is enjoying some great form at the moment with her excellent run at Wimbledon, which was not to be taken for granted given her injury issues in the current season.

However, Ash has once again proven her mettle and shown the sporting world why she remains the World No. 1. Her victory bodes well for the rest of the season which also includes the Tokyo Olympics.
