Martina Navratilova has always been at the forefront of promoting the rights and autonomy of women. Then it does not matter if it is the sporting realm or the entertainment one. As Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow found herself in the middle of a lawsuit, Navratilova defended her on Twitter. In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claimed that Paltrow had crashed into him while skiing in 2016 and sought $3.1 million in remuneration.

In this highly publicized case, a popular publication somehow shifted the focus to what the actress was wearing during the trial. This led Navratilova, co-actor in Paltrow’s show, ‘The Politician’, to bash the societal norms while defending the actress.

It will be incorrect to say that this televised trial gained more popularity than last year’s contentious Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial. However, it still has several people tuning into it as one party of the trial has Gwyneth Paltrow in it.

Instead of focusing on the trial that has several allegations from the now-retired optometrist Terry Anderson, people have been focusing on what Paltrow has worn to the court. Reacting to a New York Times article, Navratilova stated, via @NYTimes– isn’t it odd how many things women need to worry about compared to men? Also- this guy is guilty as sin.”

A pro-choice advocate, Navratilova did not hold back from calling a conservative move of banning abortions as “19th century’s Wyoming.” Taking a dig at it, she emphasized the move takes back the American society to its orthodox roots.
