Boston tennis player shares a horrifying story

Brittany Collens, a Boston tennis player and an NCAA athlete, shared a story that would leave many furious with the responsible individuals. She even added the caption, “this is horrifying. So many f**k ups by so many people. Sorry for the language but thank god for this investigation pointed out just how dumb Utah campus and Salt Lake City police were. RIP Lauren. May we learn from your tragedy.

Lauren McCluskey was known to be a shy girl growing up. However, her physical prowess stunned even her parents. The young McCluskey was able to climb trees as though gravity did not affect her. In awe, her parents put her in a Junior Olympics program. Lauren competed in the 400-meter race, high jump, and long jump and went on to set regional records for each sport.

Her ability in athletics only grew as she went on to compete in several events, winning a state title. This meant that she had her choices of great colleges and the athlete chose Utah. While attending university, Lauren met a man named Sean Fields, who said he was 28, and a part-time student at Salt Lake Community College. Fields had charmed Lauren but her friend Alex (who did not share her last name) felt something was not right with him.

In the weeks leading up to the unfortunate incident, Lauren had found out that, Sean was a registered sex offender. With the help of her high-school best friend, Regina Snider, the athlete also uncovered that he used several aliases, one of which was Melvin Shawn Roland. After the couple separated, Sean used multiple numbers, disguised as friends, to talk to Lauren and harass her. Moreover, he had also blackmailed McClusky and extorted $1000 from the young woman.

The track athlete had called the campus police to ensure that the convict could be looked up in the sex offender registry and be found by his parole officer. However, the parole officer said that he did not receive any notification and that a police officer had looked up Sean. With the case being bounced around from officer to officer, as revealed by ESPN’s investigation, the response was slow. Eventually, Sean arrived at the university and hung around Lauren’s dorm room for quite some time.

On October 22, 2018, he shot her dead after dragging her to a secluded place while she was on a call with her mother.
