Messages poured in from all around the world, congratulating Ashleigh on her historic win. The current Australian coach couldn’t contain her emotions, speaking of the impact Ashleigh’s parents have had. She believes they are the unsung heroes in their daughter’s second Grand Slam title.

Tearing up, she said “I want to give a shout out to her parents, obviously Josie and Rob, because people underestimate the importance of family. She talks about that all the time… This is how you support them. You don’t pressure them, you’re there for them and this is why she is there, so a big shout out to them, well done.”

Jelena made headlines in 2017 after she made shocking revelations about her father and the abuse she faced. Hence, watching Ashleigh’s parents support her struck a sensitive chord in Jelena. Crediting them rightly, she said, “And as someone who didn’t have that support, it is so important. This will set an example for parents in Australia and around the world, not just how to raise a champion but a genuinely wonderful human being.”

This was Ashleigh Barty’s second Grand Slam title

Ashleigh Barty deserves every bit of praise that she has been receiving. Her fine run of form throughout the campaign made her the favorite going into the game. It is safe to say she once again lived up to her rank. Credit is also due to fellow finalist, Karolina Pliskova who did not make this any easier on Barty. Just when she was declared down and out, she made an astonishing comeback taking the game to a third and final set.
