He recently invested in a football club started by Natalie Portman, namely, Angel City FC; a Los Angeles based women’s football club. Recently, Serena Williams’s husband took to his Twitter and shared the reason behind promoting and investing in the club.

Alexis Ohanian’s reason for investing in Angel City FC

Alexis Ohanian has been an ardent follower as well as supporter of women’s sport. He has always shared stories about women’s football and has declared his allegiance to his favourite players and clubs. Ohanian took to Twitter and shared an old tweet of Olympia running around. He re-shared that tweet recently. He stated, “3 years ago this little girl inspired me to help start a women’s football club and tonight at 7:30p PT on @CBSSports you’ll be able to watch @weareangelcity at home against @TheNCCourage ⚽️⚽️⚽️ LFG”.

Earlier, he had shared the victory of the US National Women’s team, bringing the world cup home for the fourth time.

Olympia acts as a motivating factor

The Angel City FC made its official NWSL debut against North Carolina Courage. It won by the score of 2-1. This will provide a tremendous boost to the popularity of the club. The club was formed by Natalie Portman and Alexis Ohanian has invested in it. The reason behind that is his daughter, she motivated him to promote the growth of the women’s sport.

Serena Williams is also one of the shareholders of the Angel City FC. The ardent supporter of equality in every sport, has voiced her concern over the unequal pay scale for male and female players in tennis. Moreover, Olympia herself is a shareholder of the football club. She might just be the youngest shareholder of the club.
