Serena Williams has decided to hang up her racquets after this year’s US Open. In a recent interview, the legendary American player talked about her love for tennis, her future plans, and Olympia. Williams has given 27 years of her life to tennis, making and breaking records on her way to glory.

Serena Williams on retiring and her glorious career

Williams has established her legacy as one of the greatest tennis players to have stepped on a tennis court. Many incumbent players idealize her and aspire to become like her. When asked if the US Open will be her final tournament, Serena Williams said, “I don’t know, I think so, but you never know.” Afterward, the host asked if we could see her in Australia. Williams said, “I have learned in my career, ‘Never say Never’.”

Her take on breaking the record of Margaret Court, who has won 24 grand slam titles, was a different one. She said, “I have already broken the record. I never dreamed of having this many grand slams and titles.” The player humbly expressed her initial perception of herself. She said, “I thought I would just play tennis and win a grand slam or two. So for me, it’s all a bonus.”

Williams further expressed her views on the career she has built. She said, “This whole journey is emotional. I love what I do. I love that I have been playing my whole entire life.” Besides that, she had also discussed the matter with her sister, Venus Williams, and what she wants to do next year.

Williams talks about her daughter Olympia

The 6-time US Open champion talked about her biggest achievement, Olympia, in the interview. She shed some light on how she has manages to be with her daughter.

She said, “It’s super hard because there are so many things that change. Those changes happen, they still have to fit in your life and not just lose who you are. So, for me that’s how it is, she fits in my life.” Furthermore, she affirmatively replied when asked if she still wants more kids.
