Both Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian consider Olympia as their biggest achievement. Hence, their actions have always been influenced by how she is going to understand them once she grows up. This became one of the major reasons behind the Reddit co-founder deciding to let go of his ties with his dearly co-founded platform. Understanding that one day that he would have to give accountability as to $15 billion worth of platform worked, Ohanian aligned his vision with his actions.

Hence, the multi-millionaire dropped from the board of Reddit. Talking about that decision and how his daughter Olympia played a major role in it, Ohanian delved into the basics once again.

How did Olympia play a role in Alexis Ohanian dropping out from the Reddit board? 

Olympia is the powerhouse of the Williams-Ohanian household. Both the parents proudly boast of being her parents before anything else. And this insurmountable love for Olympia led Ohanian to take a difficult yet important step. The Reddit co-founder stopped working with Reddit in 2008. However, he was still on its board, but during the Black Lives Matter movement, he stepped down and wished for a black candidate to take his seat. But all this amassed to what Olympia would see when she grew up.

Ohanian recently shared an Instagram story where he talked about the same. He stated, “3 years ago I started to make more decisions that were gonna be aligned not just with the business outcome but also with the story I wanted to have for my daughter.”

Knowing how accessible it would be to know what her father did, Ohanian took the step. He added, “Back then she was three, now she is like six. Because I knew she was gonna have Google, now we have ChatGPT.” So, he said, “But she was gonna be able to look back and look what her Papa did, how her Papa made his money. And I wanted to be able to answer those hard questions.”

Keeping such things in his mind led Ohanian to strive to be a better human being. Olympia on the other hand keeps on triggering his entrepreneurial mind with her innocent yet inquisitive questions. She helped him by giving him new business ideas. For instance, her query about Lavagirl’s parents led Ohanian to scheme something for Qai Qai stories.
