The matter of equal pay for men and women is an important and often talked about aspect of sports. Although tennis has made strides in equal pay for men and women, there are still several issues left to be fixed. The gap in tournament prize money will reduce further only when more individuals start investing in the WTA. Billie Jean King, a pioneer of equality, is commending every such move that helps tennis bridge the pay gap between men and women.

Along with tennis, soccer is another sport that has taken a step toward addressing the gender pay gap. Alexis Ohanian, the husband of Serena Williams, is one of the few investors who invested a heavy sum in women’s soccer at a time when women’s sports weren’t seen as a lucrative investment option. Thus, he became one of the first renowned investors who took the first step in enhancing the popularity of women’s sports.

The WTA is slowly growing, particularly in terms of its funding. The committee has received a major boost this year in investments, from CVC Capital Partners in March. Such investments are a clear sign that women’s sports will reach equal prize money as the men’s competition in the near future.

Adding to the good news, billionaire Marc Lasry has decided to invest a huge sum in women’s sports, which only scaffolds the growth. Lasry, who was a prominent owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, moved on to Pickleball and will now invest a huge sum in women’s sports teams in the US.
