The sporting history is symbolic of stories of grit and determination. From Michael Jordan to Lance Armstrong, we have seen incredible comebacks by players across sports. Earlier this year, the Spanish tennis legend, Rafael Nadal, played one of the most memorable matches of the Australian Open. He overcame a two-set deficit to prevail over Daniil Medvedev and win his 21st Grand Slam title. Recently, the American golfing legend, Tiger Woods, completed a stunning comeback at Augusta Masters.
The 15-time Major winner returned to the sport last week after suffering a terrible car accident in February last year. Social media was filled with praises for the champion following his decision to compete in the tournament. Additionally, many fellow players and legends across the sporting world also hailed his grit and determination. Amongst them was the 18-time Grand Slam champion, Chris Evert. Tiger Woods put on some gritty display as he overcame his injuries and lack of match fitness to make the cut on Friday. However, he carded a six-over-par 78 on the following day. Even though it was his worst score in a Masters round, Tiger would have been proud of his comeback after being almost 16 months away from the sport. Further, he finished with the same score on Sunday to finish on 13-over.
On February 23, 2021, Tiger was involved in a major car accident after his SUV rammed onto a tree and uprooted it. Subsequently, he underwent treatment in the hospital for the serious injuries he had suffered. He had even admitted that he nearly lost his right leg because of the accident.
