Emma Raducanu wowed the tennis fraternity when she won her first grand slam as a Qualifier at the 2021 US Open. She turned a few heads at the last Wimbledon too but had to retire in her fourth round, against Ajla Tomljanovic, because of breathing problems.

However, her grand slam victory has catapulted her rise and currently she is ranked 13th on the WTA singles rooster. Though she had to retire from her last tournament due to a minor injury, she appears to be getting ready for her Indian Wells campaign.

Emma Raducanu reveals new partnership with Vodafone

Recently, Emma Raducanu revealed she will be the grassroots tennis ambassador for Vodafone. This is an effort to inspire more youngsters to take up the sport. Vodafone also announced their partnership for their rebranded and relaunched mass participation competition, Play Your Way to Wimbledon.

In a video that was a part of the advertisement, Raducanu is seen saying how she wants to be perceived by the younger generations. “I hope that the next generation can see that I’m genuinely having fun on the court and trying to take in the moment as much as possible.”

The Play Your Way to Wimbledon is a competition that is conducted in partnership with LTA, a system that Raducanu is familiar with. “It’s great for me to be a part of grassroots tennis because I came up through the whole LTA system. So, for me to be involved as much as I can, to give back is really nice.”

She also spoke about how excited she was to be able to collaborate with Vodafone for this initiative. The support she received at the grassroots level had helped her in becoming the pro player she is today. She also mentioned that she wanted to contribute in making these initiatives “even bigger, better, and more accessible”.

When asked about her plans for this season, she said “Centre Court”. She is sure to reach the pinnacle of the sport given her skill set only if she manages to maintain consistency. The British star will also have to think of game plans and stick to them in order to have prolonged success on tour.
