The 18 Grand Slam champion, Chris Evert, was one of the most promising players of her generation. However, off the court, the former American tennis player was also a talented actress. Evert amused the audiences with her acting and singing when she got featured in the 1980s popular TV show, Saturday Night Live.

However, she also faced some difficulties during her debut in the film industry. Evert later revealed her experiences involving a hilarious incident with her former husband, Andy Mill.

Chris Evert once talked about her acting experiences

The American tennis star was once featured in an interview with sports commentator, Bob Costas. Meanwhile, Evert also talked about how she faced some difficulties while she was rehearsing an intimate scene with Dana Carvey. Later on, the former tennis player stated that it was her former husband who came to help them with an intimate scene.

Evert stated, “So you know, my husband, he was great. He just. I was supposed to kiss Dana and we weren’t getting it right.”  The 18 Grand Slam champion made her acting debut in the popular show Saturday Night Live in 1989. Evert had to be involved in an intimate scene with Dana Carvey during an episode.

She further revealed that Dana had to kiss her all over the face after throwing her on the bed, during the scene. Ever also stated that it was very uncomfortable when they were involved in the act. She went on to say that her then-husband, Andy Mill stepped in and showed them the correct way to do the intimate act.

Evert revealed, “It was awkward and so Andy took me and he threw me on the bed he goes ‘Dana, this is how it’s done’ and he threw me on the bed and then after that, it’s like the air was cleared and and Dana did a very well”

Lorne Michaels convinced Evert to make her debut in acting

The producer of the American TV show, Lorne Michaels, convinced the former American tennis player during their telephone conversation. Evert also revealed that she was very skeptical about her acting skill in the Saturday Night Live show. The tennis star went on to say that she wasn’t sure if she could match the performances of other entertainers in the show.

Evert added that she was scared that she might take a fall on her face during her performances. However, Michaels convinced her because that was exactly what he wanted on his show. He further stated that “you have to laugh at yourself”. As a result, Evert was convinced and decided to make her acting debut. However, she later realized that she had to dance and sing as well during the show.
