Osaka is through to the Round of 16 in Miami
Earlier, Osaka was scheduled to play against the Czech player, Muchova. However, due to a left abdominal injury, she had to withdraw from her match against the Japanese player. As a result, she got a walkover and went through to the next round. Once a dominant player on the tour, she has been inconsistent so far in 2022. This is just the second time she has reached the 4th round of any tournament this year. Surely, this will boost the Japanese player’s confidence.

If she goes far at the Miami Open, she will definitely improve her ranking, which will help her to get an automatic entry in future tournaments. Most importantly, she will get her confidence back to perform well at the Majors.
Now, the Japanese player’s focus should be on the Round-of-16 match, where she will face the American, Alison Riske. If she wins this match, she could face either Danielle Collins or Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals.
