After what was supposed to be a one-week trial, it seems like Gauff is impressed with Gilbert and wants him on her coaching staff for a longer time. This comes after Gauff went on to clinch the Citi Open by defeating Maria Sakkari in straight sets.
The young American prodigy was under scrutiny for quite some time and has now finally found a way to shut the critics. In an interview, she spoke about her ideas going ahead with Brad and suggested that she plans to have a rather longer time with the former American player.
“I mean, we were just trying it this week, but obviously, I think, with the way it’s been going, we are going to continue. You know, with anyone, you don’t want to say, Let’s plan for a long time. I really only had one conversation with him in person, which was at Wimbledon,” said Gauff in the interview.
With the US Open on her radar, she would be wanting to keep her form going and impress everyone with her skills at the Flushing Meadows. However, talking about the US Open, the former coach of Serena Williams, Rick Macci also shed light on Coco’s chances and gave insight that she could win the tournament. However, he raised one condition.
